Our History
Douglasville School of Dance was founded in 1975, by Libba Tishaw. The studio was located in the Market Square Shopping Center on Highway 5. After studying dance in Atlanta for many years, Ms. Sheryl began taking dance classes at DSD. During the early 1980's she began assisting and teaching several of the classes. Ms. Sheryl's dream was to one day become the owner of a dance school and in 1984 this dream came true. Ms. Sheryl and her husband, David, purchased Douglasville School of Dance in June 1984. The studio remained at the Market Square location through May 1989. With the vision of David & Sheryl, and God’s guidance, Douglasville School of Dance opened in the current location on West Stewarts Mill Road. In 2025, DSD will celebrate 50 years of dance education! God continues to bless DSD through every dancer, family, and staff member.
